About Snokel

Everything you need to know before you snorkel in Andaman Islands. A snorkel is a tube around 30 cm long and with an on the inside diameter of between 1.5 and 2.5 centimeters, generally L or J-shaped and fixed with a mouth piece at the lower end, and designed of rubber or plastic. How to Reach North Bay

To reach North Bay, you'll have to take a ferry/ Fiber Boat from Junglighat Jetty and also from Aberdeen Jetty (Water Sport Complex).

Boat Timing: Starts at 08:00 am and available till 10:30 am

Snorkeling at Elephant Beach, Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep)

Havelock is famous for its dreamy beaches and crystal clear blue water and therefore stands at the top with the best place for water sports in Andaman.
The reefs are in pristine condition and with little exploration you can find corals in the same way they were formed.

How to Reach Elephant Beach

By Boat and Trekking is the two way to reach Elephant Beach.

By Boat: To reach Elephant Beach, you'll have to take a Fiber Boat (10 to 12 Capacity) from Near Havelocak Jetty.
Boat Timing: Starts at 07:00 am and available till 11:00 am
Ticket Charge for Boat: Rs 1,000/- per Person

By Trekking: A trekking way is also available from Radhanager Basti and it takes 45 minutes to reach Elephant Beach.
Charge: There is no charge for trekking
Note: Trekking path to Elephant Beach is not suitable with Child & Senior Citizen.

Snorkeling at Bharatpur Beach, Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep)

Neil Island is yet another beautiful place surrounded by forests and populated by dense tropical trees. The Island features one of the most well preserved coral populations in the isles making it famous among divers and snorkelers.

How to Reach Bharathpur Beach

For Bharathpur Beach, you can take a Cab. It's hardly takes 10 to 20 minutes from any of the hotel in Neil Island.

Time: From 07:00 am to Till 04:00 pm

Snorkeling at Jolly Buoy & Red Skin, Port Blair

Jolly Buoy & Red Skin Island comes under Mathma Gandhi Marine National Park. Both of these Islands are open for 6 months alternatively for the tourists. The time duration, is usually from November - April for Jolly Buoy Island and from May - October for Red Skin Island. These are tentative months and can change without any prior notice.

How to Reach Jolly Buoy & Red Skin

First you have to reach Wandoor, for that you can take a Cab. It's takes 45 minutes from Port Blair to reach Wandoor.

From Wandoor, Boat will be available for any one Island i.e. Jolly Buoy & Red Skin.

Boat Time: From 08:00 am to Till 09:30 am

Boat Ticket Charge: Rs 850/- Per Person

Forest Permit Charge: Rs 50/- Per Person

Note: Forest Permit is open Two days well in advance at IP&T Office (Andaman Tourism Office) Port Blair.

FAQ- Is there an age limit for Snorkeling?

Yes, Children above 10 years of age and people below 60 can easily enjoy Snorkeling.

People who are not allowed in Snorkeling:
  Pregnant Women.
  Senior citizens above the age of 60.
  People with heart conditions.
  People with breathing difficulties.
  People under heavy medication or in need of care.
  People with have psychological conditions which cause distortion or panic underwater.

FAQ- Is it necessary to know swimming for Snorkeling?

No, it is not necessary to know swimming for Snorkeling. You will be given a small 10 minutes training of do's and dont's and your guide/Snorkeler will assist you underwater to ensure safety.
Although, knowing swimming can help you get better control of your body.
